Utility Service Worker I/II
Walnut Valley Water District is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for the Utility Service Worker I/II (USW I/II) position.
Are you looking for a hands-on role in the water industry?
WVWD seeks a dedicated individual to join the Operations team as a Utility Service Worker I or Utility Service Worker II.
You’ll perform essential maintenance, repairs, and installations for both domestic and recycled water systems. You’ll troubleshoot issues in the field, provide customer support, and ensure accurate meter readings on assigned routes.
This position offers hands-on work in an outdoor environment with opportunities to build your skills and advance within the District
Required (Certification, Licenses & Experience)
- High School Diploma or GED
- College level water technology courses (desired)
USW I Requirement:
- SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D1
USW II Requirements:
- SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D2
- 2 years experience in reading meters
- 2 years experience in water and recycled water system operation/maintenance
- 2 years experience in customer service
- SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D3 (desired)
- SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T1 (desired)
- L.A. County Back Flow Certification (desired)
- AWWA Back Flow Test + Cross Connection Certificate (desired)
- Backhoe experience (desired)
High School Internship Program
Applications for the High School Internship program are now closed.
Students will receive an email or phone call if they are selected to interview.
Students who attend high school within the WVWD service area or live in the service area are eligible to participate in WVWD’s Summer High School Internship program.
Eligible schools include:
- Diamond Bar High School
- Diamond Ranch High School
- Ron Hockwalt Academies
- Rowland High School
- Walnut High School
Students must complete an online application, interview, and work permit to participate. The internship will run from June 2, 2025, to July 25, 2025. Participants are expected to commit to a part-time schedule during those 8 weeks. Interns will receive $18/hr.
