Board of Directors

WVWD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors who are elected to overlapping four-year terms in even-numbered years. The District has five separate election divisions, each represented by a director residing in, and elected by the voters of the election division. The Board of Directors are responsible for setting District policy and establishing long-range goals to ensure efficient and effective operations of the WVWD water system. Pursuant to California Water Code Section 20202, the Board of Directors is entitled to review and set Board member compensation on an annual basis. The Board of Directors have not increased their compensation since April 2006, and, prior to that date, the last change was in June 1984. The current compensation for the District’s Board of Directors is a maximum of $150 per meeting per day, not to exceed seven meetings per month.

Elections are held on the first Tuesday in November on even numbered years. Board Member terms overlap, three positions are open at one election and two positions are open at the next election two years later. Appointments to the Board are made as necessitated by a resignation or other incidental vacating of a Board position. The Board may make an appointment to fill the vacancy, call a special election, or defer to the County, subject to law.
