Cross Connection Technician I/II

Walnut Valley Water District is excited to announce that it’s accepting applications for the  Cross Connection Technician I/II

WVWD is seeking a dedicated individual to join the team. In this position, you’ll become a pivotal part of Walnut Valley Water District’s operations department. You’ll perform a variety of assignments related to the District’s Cross Connection Control Program for domestic and recycled water distribution systems, including inspections, testing, and reporting to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and more. This position offers hands-on work in an outdoor environment with opportunities to build your skills and advance within the District.

Required (Certification, Licenses & Experience) 

CCT I

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Two (2) years’ experience in all aspects of water distribution.
  • State of California SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D2 Certificate is required.
  • CA- NV AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) Certification within 18 months of hire.
  • CA- NV AWWA Cross-Connection Control Specialist (CCCS) Certificate within 18 months of hire.
  • State of California SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T1 Certificate is desired.

CCT II

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Three (3) years’ experience in all aspects of water distribution, one (1) of which has been in cross-connection control.
  • CA- NV AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) Certification is required.
  • CA- NV AWWA Cross-Connection Control Specialist (CCCS) Certificate is required.
  • State of California SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D2 Certificate is required.
  • State of California SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T1 Certificate is required.
  • CA- NV AWWA Water Use Efficiency Practitioner Certification, Grade 1 is desired.

Water Production Operator I/II

Walnut Valley Water District is excited to announce that it’s accepting applications for the Water Production Operator I/II (WPO) position.

The first review period will be November 3, 2025. Applications submitted after the first review date will be considered on an as-needed basis.

WVWD is seeking a dedicated individual to join the team. In this position, you’ll become a pivotal part of Walnut Valley Water District’s operations department.

This position offers hands-on work in an outdoor environment with opportunities to build your skills and advance within the District

Required (Certification, Licenses & Experience) 

WPO I

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution facilities
  • SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D3
  • SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T1 within 18 months of hire

WPO II

  • High School Diploma or GED supplemented by related college-level coursework
  • 3 years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water production and storage facilities, including gas engines, electric motors, pressure regulating valves, and related telemetering and electronic control systems.
  • SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D3
  • SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T1

Desired (Certification, Licenses & Experience) 

  • State of California SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T2 Certificate is desirable.
  • American Water Works Association Water Quality Analyst Grade 1 Certificate is desirable.
  • Grade I CWEA Mechanical Technologist Certificate is desirable.
  • Grade I Electrical & Instrumentation Technologist Certification is desirable.

High School Internship Program

Applications for the High School Internship program are now closed. 

Congratulations to the students who were selected to participate in the 2025 program.  

Students who attend high school within the WVWD service area or live in the service area are eligible to participate in WVWD’s Summer High School Internship program.

Eligible schools include:

  • Diamond Bar High School
  • Diamond Ranch High School
  • Ron Hockwalt Academies
  • Rowland High School
  • Walnut High School

Students must complete an online application, interview, and work permit to participate. The internship will run from June 2, 2025, to July 25, 2025. Participants are expected to commit to a part-time schedule during those 8 weeks. Interns will receive $18/hr.
