About

WVWD’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project consists of replacing 13,272 Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) water meters with AMI technology, including 13,268 residential, 2 commercial, and 2 institutional customers. The AMI system automatically collects meter reads in near-real time; identifies, monitors, and diagnoses system abnormalities that include potential water leaks, continuous flows, and possible theft; and resolves issues with aging water meters that are difficult to read, provide inaccurate readings, require additional use of labor, and present potential dangers for meter readers.

This project focuses on the implementation of AMI throughout the cities of Walnut, West Covina, and unincorporated Rowland Heights. WVWD will complete the implementation of the project through a combination of in-house personnel labor and subcontractor assistance from Concord Utility Inc.
