WVWD Expands Water Conservation Programs Amid Challenges and Adapts to Needs of the Community

Walnut, CA – Walnut Valley Water District (WVWD) has prepared an addendum to its 2019-2024 Water Use Efficiency (WUE) Strategic Plan, highlighting its customer-centered conservation efforts during the Plan period.  The addendum reflects extensive research into customer needs and preferences, during and after, the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in tailored programs that promote long-term water efficiency in the community.

Among the standout innovations during this period were the introduction of Hydrant Guards to limit water loss from damaged fire hydrants and the expansion of the Leak Repair Program, which proactively assists qualified residents in fixing water leaks on their properties. These programs, along with irrigation retrofit assistance and water-saving rebates, helped WVWD deliver significant value to its community while ensuring that public funds were maximized through funding support from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD).

Looking ahead, WVWD remains dedicated to expanding its water conservation efforts and meeting the District’s water use efficiency goals. As part of the state’s framework to make Conservation a California Way of Life, WVWD will continue to innovate, offering both digital and in-person solutions, to help residents and businesses use water wisely.
