Contest Theme: “Let’s Dive In: Why Water Professionals Matter”

Dive into creativity and make a splash with your storytelling skills in WVWD’s annual High School Media Contest! The High School Media Contest is promoted to high schools in the District’s service area. We invite all high school students to participate in crafting compelling videos that shine a spotlight on the vital role WVWD water professionals play in our community.

Winners will receive $250, $200, $150, or $100!

How do I participate in the High School Media Contest?

Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate. Students enter the contest by creating their own media campaign following the District’s contest theme and guidelines.

All entries must be submitted online NO LATER THAN Friday, March 1, 2024.

What are the contest rules and guidelines?

Submission Guidelines:

  • Create a Captivating Video: Produce a short video (45 seconds – 1 minute) that creatively explores the vital role WVWD water professionals play in our community. Highlight their impact on our daily lives, the environment, and the sustainable future.
  • Showcase Diverse Perspectives: Whether you choose interviews, animations, narratives, or a mix of creative elements, we encourage you to represent the diverse perspectives and stories that make water professionals true community heroes.
  • Educate and Inspire: Your video should not only inform the audience about the importance of water professionals but also inspire a greater appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
  • Format: Videos must be submitted in MP4 format.
  • Include a Brief Description: Provide a short description (100 words max) explaining the inspiration behind your video and the key messages you aim to convey.
  • Use of copyright materials is allowed with express written permission by the copyright owner (Examples of copyright materials include music, video clips, and images). Written approval must be submitted with your entry.

Qualified media entries can receive bonus points if posted on Instagram Reels or TikTok –

  • MUST tag and follow @WVWDH2O on Instagram and TikTok
  • Social media accounts must be listed as public
  • The entry that has the most views on Instagram Reels or TikTok will receive a $25 gift card

Judging Criteria:

Entries will be evaluated based on creativity, storytelling, cinematography, and the effectiveness of conveying the significance of water professionals in our community.
