director.woo@walnutvalleywater.gov (909) 595-7554 ext. 201 Mr. Henry Woo, a long-time resident of Rowland Heights, began his early life in the community while at Cal Poly Pomona where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture. Mr. Woo retired from his architecture practice of over thirty-five years in the Diamond Bar/Walnut area and began serving on the board in 2023. In conjunction with his duties on the Board, he chairs the District’s Engineering Committee, is a member of the Finance Committee, and is an alternate member of the Public Information Committee. He serves as a commissioner of the Puente Basin Water Agency, alternate representative to the Three Valley’s Municipal Water District, ACWA voting delegate, and ACWA Region 8 alternate delegate.
During his business career while managing his architecture practice, Mr. Woo served on a number of business and professional as well as community organizations, including the Asian American Architects & Engineers, and served as President of Chinese American Construction Professionals (CACP) 2002-03. Among his many contributions to the Asian and local communities, he had donated time and effort for the preliminary design of the Chinese Heritage Museum in LA Chinatown. He volunteered as a planning consultant for the early proposal for Youth Science Center in Hacienda Heights. To promote the interest in architecture for future generations of students, he consistently provided summer internships, mentorship, and scholarships for college-bound high school students as well as mentoring for the architecture programs of Cal Poly Pomona.
Consistent with his interest in serving the local communities. Mr. Woo has supported numerous local activities, school foundation programs such as serving on the Walnut Valley Education Foundation, supporting the Rowland USD FORUS Foundation, Rowland Heights Buckboard Day parade, and many other community events throughout the past decades. In 2006, Mr. Woo began serving as a board member in various roles for the Rowland Heights Community Coordinating Council. In 2020, Mr. Woo was honored to be one of the recipients of a Congressional Award ~ Asian American Pacific Islander Trailblazer Award.
With knowledge of the local communities and a professional business background, Mr. Woo has in-depth understanding of the issues related to our daily lives and is committed to serving our neighbors and local communities, and to overseeing our safe and reliable water operation with our water purveyor.
