  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Certificate
  • 5 Years Experience in safety and risk management specifically in construction and water industry operation and safety
  • Bachelor’s Degree (occupational safety and health, occupational health and industrial hygiene, business administration, public administration, risk management, or a related field)
  •  Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certificate – Desired

Accounting Manager

With a rich history of serving the region, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Accounting Manager to contribute to the financial success of our water district.

Job Description: As an Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial activities of Walnut Valley Water District. You will oversee accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance to ensure the fiscal health and integrity of the water district. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial stability of an essential public service provider.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to analyze financial data and support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee budget preparation and monitor financial performance against approved budgets.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and ensure the water district’s adherence to financial best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, MPA or MBA designation is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as an Accounting Manager in a public sector or utility setting. Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Diamond Bar High School
  • Diamond Ranch High School
  • Ron Hockwalt Academies
  • Rowland High School
  • Walnut High School
