Spring Edible Gardening & Seed-Starting Workshop

Directions

In partnership with The Real Hens of OC, join us for a FREE hands-on interactive Spring Edible Gardening and Seed-Starting for Beginners Workshop! All materials are provided in the seed-starting activity and you will be able to take home the seeds you sowed.

Topics covered in this workshop will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Planting zones
  • Micro climates
  • Soil basics; soil health, soil amendments
  • Cool season vs warm season vs shoulder season planting
  • “Rules” of seed starting
  • Transplanting

At the end of the workshop, you will:

  • Know your planting zones and know how to observe your microclimates
  • Know how to select the appropriate type of soil for seed-starting and for starting your garden
  • Know how to start seeds with confidence
  • Know how to transplant seedlings with success
  • Have a basic understanding of planting seasons
  • Know some edibles they can plant for cooler weather and shoulder seasons
